Using WorkPause: Tip And Tricks
Controlling the Statistics
If you never turn off your computer, the usage statistics will keep accumulating and at some point could become unusable. To prevent this, and to see only the statistics for the last day, you could use the Auto Zero settings in the Statistics Page. Just set it to clear the statistics e.g at 0:00am or after 8 hours of inactivity.Whether To Use Micro Breaks?
You do not need to use micro breaks unless you have a compelling reason to do so. Studies have shown that the micro-breaks do not offer particular benefits over the normal, natural breaks we all do when working (WorkPause supports micro breaks, but they are disabled by default).Which Alert Types To Use?
- If you discover that it's hard for you to make a break, and you tend to simply discard the alerts, then set both the short and long alert types to "Screen Lock" and at the same time set the "Disable unlocking" time to at least 16 seconds. In this way, when the screen is locked you will have time to cool down and switch to resting mode, instead of immediately clicking the "Unlock" button.
- On the other hand, if you are quite disciplined and only want a discreet reminder, it's better to set the short alert type to "Slider Box". This alert type is more discrete than the message box, and at the same time there is less chance to miss the alert than if you just use the standard tooltip. This is because the human eye is quite good at catching movements, especially with the corner of the eye. Keep the long breaks set to "Screen Lock" to ensure you'll have your long breaks too.
